Tutoring

When necessary, EDS will provide tutoring in the basic skill areas of reading, writing and mathematics as well as study skills programs. All students are tutored on a one-to-one teaching basis. Each student will have more than one tutor to maintain diversity, challenge and perspective as well as meet scheduling needs in order to maintain a consistent schedule. Educational programs are customized to the individual student's needs, and programs are reviewed daily and updated regularly. Parent conferences to discuss student progress may be scheduled at the parent's request or at the suggestion of the teaching staff. All other consultation including additional conferences, school visits or conversation with school staff and lengthy phone conversation will be billed at an hourly rate.

Payment Policy

Payment for Full Educational Testing, Psychological Testing and Initial Screenings are due on the (first) day of the testing. Consultation fees are due as service is rendered.

Tuition for tutoring is billed in advance of each month. Tuition payment is due on the first day of each month. EDS reserves the right to discontinue a student's program if tuition is not paid in a timely manner. EDS accepts personal checks only. There will be a $30 charge for returned checks.

Tutoring Make-up Policy

Please keep in mind, your child's tutor is paid even if your child misses a session!

t If EDS is notified of an absence at least 24 hours in advance of a session (by Friday for a Monday absence), a make-up will be scheduled. If you cannot schedule a make-up within 30 days, the session will be lost.

t If your child misses a session (less than 24-hour notice) the session will be forfeited. Make-up sessions and credits will not be issued.

t With the exception of closings due to inclement weather, there will be no circumstance under which EDS will offer credit for unused tutoring sessions.

t EDS does not necessarily close in accord with local schools inclement weather closing. Call EDS for up to date information regarding weather related closings.

t EDS is open during ALL Public and Private School Breaks and a number of school holidays (See "schedule" page for closings)

¸ Please advise EDS if your child will be absent during a school vacation.

¸ While it is important to maintain continuity in a student's program, with notice, parents will not be billed for vacation time and as such will not be offered make-up sessions.

¸ Regarding holidays, when EDS is open, students are expected to attend tutoring sessions. If you choose not to attend, a make-up will be scheduled, according to the provisions noted above.

¸ EDS may offer flexible schedules (earlier hours, different days) during school vacation schedules. Please call in advance if you would like to modify a vacation schedule.

t In the rare event that EDS must cancel a tutoring session, a make-up session will be scheduled on a priority basis.

Confidentiality Policy

Test results and information disclosed in interviews, conversations and questionnaires are held in strict confidence.

EDS professionals will not discuss student information or test results with a third party (e.g. school officials) until provided with written consent from the student's parent/guardian.

All written information is sent directly to parents/guardians and will not be sent to a third party.
